RART-Bronch
Regional and Rural Translation – Bronchiolitis
This large-scale interdisciplinary research program aims to drive implementation of substantial improvements to healthcare and health system effectiveness. The RART-Bronch team will develop, implement, and evaluate a co-designed online RART platform for improving bronchiolitis care in regional and rural hospitals in a sustainable and scalable way.
Key aims:
- Improve clinical care in bronchiolitis at regional and rural hospitals: to reduce low value practices (use of adrenaline, salbutamol, steroids, antibiotics, xrays) and improve appropriate use of high flow nasal cannula therapy;
- Get a better understanding of how to improve care in regional and rural settings and what “dose” do we need to achieve this;
- Develop a platform that can support practice change in these settings for other conditions.
Study design:
1. Years 1 – 2, Preparatory phase
2. Years 3 – 4, Cluster randomised controlled trial (site), 30 regional and rural hospitals
3. Years 4 – 5, Evaluation and scale up
